YWCA's Mission: eliminate racism, empower women and promote peace, justice, freedom & dignity for all.
Our Vision: a thriving, inclusive, and just Southeast Wisconsin defined by racial and gender equity as the foundation for healthy communities.
YWCA Southeast Wisconsin's work has 3 pillars: Economic Empowerment, Racial Justice, and Health & Safety. With a Healthy & Safety lens, we address both individual needs (Economic Empowerment) and system change (Racial Justice/Gender Equity). Economic Empowerment programs use 3 integrated pathways to job readiness: Adult Ed (the largest community-based high school credentialing program in WI and wrap-around support), Personal Financial Management, and our Opportunity Advancement Center. These programs serve 10,000+ people annually (Milwaukee & Racine); 90-95% live at/below the poverty line.
Our programs provide individual services in cohort models, providing tangible skills & developing peer connections. In addition, collaborations are common & we are the region's “go-to” racial justice resource.
YWCA Southeast Wisconsin's needs-driven programs support the aspirations of women and their families.
YWCA SEW knows that addressing digital disparities is key to pandemic economic recovery. Our community trusts us as a go-to resource, evidenced by the 10,000+ we serve annually. These services will reach those who have historically been left behind, creating opportunity access where it is most needed to address the digital divide. Individuals are better equipped to carry out the business of life with increased digital access and skills development support woven throughout each of our programs. |
