Not every child can attend an in-person Earn-a-Bike workshop. There may not be one offered in their area or they are unable to travel to the workshop to take part due to barriers such as lack of transportation or home responsibilities. Our new Learn+ Earn-a-Bike Online program plans to change that.
Meet Abdul, Syrian refugee from a single parent home residing in Chicago. Abdul had a desperate need for a bicycle to get to work and school.
In October of 2020, Abdul was one of 21 kids who participated in our Learn+Earn-a-Bike Online Pilot program. He and 20 other students from across the U.S. successfully completed the program and earned refurbished bicycles from our partner at Free Bikes 4 Kidz, and they got to take home new helmets and bikes locks!
Abdul and his peers were able to learn basic bicycle mechanics and bicycle safety from home thanks to the new online option. .

Through a generous in-kind gift from our newest partner, Myagi, we now have an online education platform to both adapt our Earn-a-Bike Stem curriculum content and allow youth to access the program from wherever and whenever they have internet availability.
