Vida Senior Centers is the oldest non-profit organization serving Latino and low-income seniors in Washington, D.C.

Since 1969, its mission has been to improve the wellness, self-sufficiency, and independence of Spanish-speaking and low-income seniors residing in the District and its metro area, serving as a nexus for integration for many seniors who find themselves isolated culturally and linguistically as they age in place.

By providing food security, health information, education, and social interactions with other seniors of like backgrounds and native language, Vida becomes the critical lifeline for the clients to successfully navigate services to age independently and in place, but still be part of a community where they feel like they belong.

Our Impact

With two locations—Calvert and Brightwood—Vida has been a lifeline for thousands of older adults across the eight wards of the city for over 55 years, thanks to our donors. We are “Their Home Away From Home,” a support system, and a place where they are seen, heard, and cared for. Every year, Vida provides over 150,000 services across all of our programs to 1,700 clients, along with 26,000 congregate meals. Many of our participants live below 200% of the federal poverty line, with the majority being women. Vida delivers the stability and community they might not otherwise have.

Current Need

All proceeds will be dedicated entirely to an emergency fund that will ensure the continuity and strengthening of our programs throughout FY2026. This fund is vital for us to thrive and continue fulfilling our mission within the community.
