Vida Senior Centers

A nonprofit organization

Vida Senior Centers has been supporting low-income seniors struggling to age in place in the Washington DC area, for more than 54 years. The seniors are mostly but not exclusively Hispanic.

Aging comes with challenges—financial struggles, health issues, cognitive decline—but imagine facing all of that in a country that is linguistically and culturally foreign to you.

At Vida Senior Centers, most of our seniors are elderly women—single, widowed, or divorced—who have worked hard their entire lives in low-wage jobs. They come from 21 Central and South American countries, and now, in their old age, they find themselves displaced, poor, and alone.

For them, Vida is more than a senior center—it is a home away from home. It is the only place where they can speak Spanish, connect with others who share their experiences, and find joy in simple pleasures:

  • Dancing, knitting, and singing

  • Zumba and yoga for wellness

  • English and computer classes

  • Cooking competitions and cultural discussions

  • A safe space where someone is always there to listen

Budget Cuts Threaten Their Only Community

Due to recent federal budget cuts, Vida Senior Centers is at risk of closing, leaving hundreds of seniors without their only source of support and community.

How You Can Help

Without Vida, many of our seniors will lose access to meals, social connections, medical assistance, and a safe place where they belong.

Your donation can help keep our doors open and ensure that no senior is left to face aging alone.

  • $10 provides a nutritious meal for a senior

  • $50 supports a week of social and wellness activities

  • $100 helps fund medical and counseling programs

  • Any amount makes a difference

Your Small Gift, A Big Impact

By giving today, you are providing security, dignity, and care to seniors who need it most. Together, we can keep Vida Senior Centers open and continue to be a lifeline for our community.
