Our Youth Empowerment programming serves 160+ economically and socially vulnerable youth from downtown El Paso’s Rio Grande Neighborhood in grades 3-12 is comprised of 3 different age-appropriate programs:

Launch Pad, our elementary after-school program, meets twice a week and includes: matching each child with an adult mentor and relationship building with that mentor, provision of a healthy snack, study/homework time, rotating activities arranged around a semester theme, character growth and life skills lessons, climbing wall training, art activities and the teaching of money management skills through a youth bank and store, and computer coding. Throughout our program year, we also offer several ways for Launch Pad students to serve their community via volunteer work like our neighborhood cleanups!

Kids Create, our middle school program, meets three days a week and includes: provision of a healthy snack, daily homework/educational enrichment time, STEAM workshops (such as computer repair, cooking, science lab, dance, coding and photography), a weekly youth club (including music, games, relationship building time and a message or life skills lesson), and open recreation time.

Our High School Program meets three days a week and includes: provision of a healthy snack, youth club (including music, games, relationship building and a message or life lesson), small group leadership development, and Catalyst a year-long job readiness/college prep/life skills program for neighborhood youth aged 14-18.

Catalyst combines in-class discussions, training, field instruction, exposure to business leaders within our communities, and field trips to empower our high school students to successfully pursue and maintain employment while seeking to fulfill their post-high school educational goals. Catalyst serves as a key piece in the youth empowerment process as we guide our young people on the road to educational and vocational exploration and to economic self-sufficiency and community service.
