Why This Matters

NVFS’ Multicultural Center (MC) serves more than 4,500 immigrants and refugees annually.

Last year, 97% were survivors, 88% were low-income, and more than 70% were women and children. Arriving here, many face poverty, isolation, fear of deportation, mental health issues and so much more.

The MC is the only local provider of affordable, culturally competent, and trauma-informed services. Your support today will help:

  • a child who was abused and trafficked recover and thrive
  • a mother and survivor of domestic violence live safely and with dignity
  • a survivor understand that they are not defined by their past trauma

Will you donate now to help a newly arrived family live without fear and step out and thrive?

MORE ABOUT THE MULTICULTURAL CENTER

The Multicultural Center supports immigrant and refugee children and families in culturally and linguistically sensitive ways across all our programs. The needs of this population are complex.

Your donation will give our immigrant neighbors a chance to rebuild their lives by:

  • Providing wraparound services designed to address the needs of the whole person by helping them access programs for their basic, legal, and mental health needs
  • Teaching immigrant teens the skills necessary to thrive in their new communities
  • Connecting teens with positive extra-curricular activities and access to community resources to help improve their school performance and promote their ability to make choices that correspond with their life goals
  • Helping families navigate the challenges of reunification after immigration-related separations
  • Providing trauma recovery services and support for youth who have experienced violence in a variety of forms
  • Providing development and training opportunities to the professionals (counselors, teachers, etc.) who serve children to better empower them to respond efficiently and effectively to the needs of immigrant youth and families

Will you donate now to help a young woman suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, a child exposed to domestic violence, and the family torn apart by war and instability?
