A Second Chance!!!!

Update posted 3 years ago

Ryan is so close to getting a Second Chance and we are so close to meeting our financial medical goal. If we meet this goal, Ryan has an anonymous donor that wants to give the foundation 50K in Ryan's honor. This would go so far to meet his transplant expenses.  Can you help  Ryan meet his financial medical goal?

Ryan is scheduled for his Second Chance kidney transplanton January 5th. It would be so awesome if he met his goal prior to the transplant. Please "Share" and help us meet Ryan's financial needs.

Thank you to those that have lovingly given to help make this happen.

Ryan Kolodziej

Transplant Type: Kidney

Ryan Kolodziej is awaiting a new lease on life. In 1998, he was diagnosed with fibrillary glomerulonephritis, a rare kidney disease. It has progressed over time, and by 2017, his kidneys were failing. In 2018, he began dialysis, which leaves him tired and affects his quality of life. Doctors say a kidney transplant is necessary.

During this difficult time, Ryan is thankful for the love and support of his wife of 38 years, Denise, and their family and friends, including two stepdaughters, two sons, and a daughter-in-law. Ryan’s health prevents him from being the active husband and father he longs to be. He enjoys camping, being outdoors, cooking, and serving as a deacon at Lakeview Bible Church, but his health limits his activities now. He hopes to resume the things he enjoys, including teaching Sunday school, once he is healthy. Ryan looks forward to receiving a transplant that will free him from dialysis and give him back his energy. He wants nothing more than to be healthy so he can be more active, help others, and have more quality time with his family and friends. But right now, he needs your help.

The average kidney transplant costs more than $442,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of his transplant costs, he still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

Ryan lives 358 miles from his transplant center, and traveling back and forth can be expensive. When he receives his transplant, he will have to temporarily relocate to be nearby while he recovers, incurring substantial expenses for travel, food, and lodging. He was forced to stop working in 2017 due to his declining health, further adding to his financial burdens.

If you’d like information on being a living donor and donating a kidney to Ryan, you can visit www.uofulivingdonor.org for information or call the living donor team at the University of Utah at 801-587-8816.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to NFT in honor of Ryan. If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the Idaho Transplant Fund, 3249 W. Sarazen's Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125. Please be sure to write "in honor of Ryan Kolodziej” in the memo line.
