Winning Futures
Empowering Tomorrow's Workforce
Winning Futures is a nationally recognized and award-winning expert in empowering high school students to succeed. Through our evidence-based and structured Workforce Prep program, students throughout Metro Detroit are immersed in a multi-year experiential curriculum that begins in high school and continues into their first year of continuing education. The program includes mentoring, life skills development, goal setting, job readiness training, and career exploration. With help from volunteer mentors and partnerships with the business community, students are transformed into self-reliant, employable, and productive adults with defined academic and career goals, and highly desirable workforce skills. Since 1994, we have positively impacted 49,000 students and awarded $1.9 million in scholarships.
Programming during COVID-19
Winning Futures Workforce Prep prepares youth for their futures through innovative programming that includes mentoring, critical skills development, goal setting/strategic planning, job readiness, and college/career exploration and planning. Our 2020-21 programs will run virtually and provide youth with the support needed to prepare them for careers and continuing education that are a good fit. We transform high school students into becoming self-reliant, employable, and productive adults.
This school year we will impact approximately 200 high school and college students through two programs:
One-on-One Virtual Mentoring: Mentors and mentees are matched one-on-one and meet virtually each month. Mentors work with high school students to explore continuing education options, find a career path that is a good fit, and develop the self-confidence and life skills necessary to succeed.
Career Success Coaching : Alumni who have previously participated in Winning Futures and Detroit Promise work virtually with a success coach. This program is designed to help college students stay in school, develop skills to help them on their career path, and support their emotional needs.
