We reached our $15,000 goal! We are amazed by your generosity and look forward to bringing Court Watch to Nashville. The fundraiser ends on October 16 and we'll continue to accept donations until then. The more we raise, the higher our chances of receiving bonus prizes through A Community Thrives! We're the second top fundraiser out of over 500--if we hold that position through Oct 16, we'll get an additional $15,000 bonus. Thank you to all who have donated--we're so grateful to have our community's support.

This summer, across the United States, thousands rose up to fight for justice after watching the murder of George Floyd. Protests erupted across the country--including in Nashville, where over 100 protestors have been arrested during peaceful demonstrations. Thanks to our community's solidarity through donations, the Nashville Community Bail Fund was able to free these protestors from jail by paying their bails. Since 2016, NCBF has paid bail for low-income Nashvillians, disrupting the money bail system and working toward a society where money does not determine a person's access to freedom. However, money bail is only one of many injustices within the criminal legal process. Hundreds of Nashvillians churn through our city's criminal court system every day, facing judges and prosecutors who are not held accountable for the decisions they make.

Nashville Community Bail Fund Court Watch invites community members into our city's courtrooms to observe court proceedings and record their observations. A community presence in the courtroom holds system actors (judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, bailiffs, etc.) accountable and promotes a just process for those accused of a crime through community involvement in the justice system.

Your donation will expand our capacity to develop our court watch program, train community volunteers (like you!), attend court sessions, and collect and publish our findings. An investment in Court Watch creates an opportunity for all Nashvillians to be involved in disrupting the norms of our city's court system, creating a more just  process for everyone.
