Luke Holloway

Transplant Type:   Liver

What if you were living on borrowed time?

Luke Holloway is fighting for his life.  He was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) when he was only eleven years old. Now, eleven years later, his condition has progressed to the point that doctors say that it is now time for a liver transplant. Thankfully, his father is able to serve as Luke’s living donor and will have a portion of his liver transplanted into Luke.

While this has been a very difficult time for Luke and his loved ones, it has also brought them closer together, strengthened their trust in each other, and given them perspective on what matters most in life. Luke looks forward to the transplant that will allow him to feel normal again and free him from debilitating symptoms so that he will no longer have to watch life pass him by. More than anything, he just wants to live a healthy and happy life, but right now, he needs your help.

Unfortunately, Luke’ hope for a new life comes at a very high price.

The average liver transplant costs approximately $878,000. And that is only the beginning. Even with health insurance, which will cover the cost of the transplant, he faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and daily anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are very expensive, and they are as critical to his survival as the transplant itself. Since Luke's recovery will be 2-3 months, there will be added expenses associated with his transplant, like extended lodging and other relocation expenses while staying near the hospital, adding to the financial strain.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to the National Foundation for Transplants in honor of Luke.

If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125.  Please be sure to write "in honor of Luke Holloway” in the memo line.

Thank you for your generosity!
