Support our Original Characters!

A Moment of Magic Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Wilkes Barre, PA that provides medically vulnerable children with creative programming, outlets, and support to foster imagination, friendship, and hope through our college-student volunteers. We partner with hospitals, nonprofit organizations, and social service institutions to provide unique, creative play experiences. We provide our services to vulnerable youth populations, such as those living with critical or chronic illness, having varying mental and physical abilities, or life experiences such as foster care.

While we greatly enjoy portraying popular children’s characters we recognize the limited representation offered in the literary and cinematic cannon and thus have started a new program to create our own original characters that come from a variety of different backgrounds so no matter what child we visit they can have the opportunity to see someone like themselves bring joy to their world alongside our more popular characters. The goal of this program is to have the children we visit create their own characters that we can then bring to life by creating a costume, backstory, and whole world for these characters to live within.

A Moment of Magic Foundation is seeking your support to assist us with our original character program where we allow children to create their own characters and we work with them to bring the character to life including designing a costume, writing a story, and creating a world for the character to live in. This program allows us to expand the available roster of characters we can currently offer and provide more diversity in our character selection to better represent the children and families we serve.
