What is "A Community Thrives":

From July 19 through August 13, First Tech Fund will participate in the A Community Thrives campaign.  If we raise at least $3,000 during these six weeks, FTF becomes eligible to receive additional grant awards up to $100,000. Only donations given during this time period will be counted towards the total.

We're also eligible for bonus awards if we have the most unique donors and/or if we raise the most money during any week period of the competition ($20k!).

FTF Overview:

First Tech Fund is an award-winning 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to closing the digital divide by supporting high school students of underserved backgrounds in New York City with technology, practical skills, and opportunities to succeed in the modern world.

Our Program:

First Tech Fund provides a holistic array of support and services from the tangible, like technology and hotspots with unlimited access, to the intangible, like individualized mentorship beyond what guidance counselors can provide, as well as exposure to new careers and skills through workshops and career panels, uplifting students to feel confident as they break cycles of poverty through education. We’ve held 25+ hours of programming since September, including a resume workshop in partnership with Airbnb’s recruiting team, a financial literacy workshop that covered credit, loans, and investments, and 8+ career panels that show a myriad of paths into law, medicine, finance, coding, tech, social impact, public service, and more.

FTF’s team has provided individual support in the form of college essay support, FAFSA sessions, admissions chats, informal reviews of financial aid, and saw our students get acceptances from schools like Cornell, University of Notre Dame, NYU, and Columbia in addition to being accepted into programs like Hamilton Scholars, Girls Who Code, and Questbridge. We’re a consistent community of support for them that they can go to when they need questions answered, but have no one to ask in their family or community.
