Andrew Wilson

Andrew grew up in Racine, Wisconsin, where most of his family still lives.  He was diagnosed with IGA Neuropathy in 2005, when trying to get life insurance. For the past 18 years he changed his diet, quit smoking and works out regularly.  This has helped keep things under control.

His condition worsened in the last year, after having a shoulder surgery and getting sick in November.   After seeing the doctors for the past few months, the doctor said a kidney transplant is needed for a second chance at life.  Andrew and his wife, Tracy, their two children: Katielynn and Brendan enjoy the outdoors and refurbishing old axes and knives.  He also loves his job at the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.

Although he has gone through many challenges, Andrew relies on his faith to guide him through life’s obstacles.  He is eager to return to his normal life, spending more time with his family and exercise. More than anything, he longs for the day he will be able to continue sharing his faith with others.  But he needs help.

A kidney transplant costs approximately $265,000.  And that’s only the beginning.  Even with health insurance, Andrew faces considerable expenses related to his transplant. He needs to stay in Denver for about a month after the surgery and after that he needs to make the trip to Denver weekly for a while and then monthly.   It is a hour and a half one-way trip. Tracy needs to be at ever doctor’s appointment, per the request of the transplant team, because she is the care giver and main support.  For the rest of his life, he will be on anti-rejection medication.  The cost alone ranges from $2,000-$5,000 a month.  This medication is critical to his survival as much as the transplant itself.

Andrew has blessed so many others, giving 100% of himself, doing anything to help others without even a second thought.  It’s time now that we can help as Andrews family and friends to give back to him.

You can help by making a tax-deductible donation to the National Foundation for Transplants in honor of Andrew.

If you'd prefer to send your gift by mail, please send it to the National Foundation for Transplants, 3249 W. Sarazen’s Circle, Suite 100, Memphis, TN 38125.  Please be sure to write "in honor of Andrew Wilson” in the memo line.
