Aaron Harris

Transplant Type: KidneyAaron Harris is awaiting a new lease on life. In 2005, he was diagnosed with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). FSGS is a rare disease that attacks the kidney’s filtering units (glomeruli) causing serious scarring which leads to permanent kidney damage and even failure. His illness leaves him tired and takes a toll on his quality of life. Doctors say a kidney transplant is necessary.

During this difficult time, Aaron is thankful for the love and support of his wife, Miyoshi, and their family and friends. Aaron and Miyoshi have three children ranging in age from 14 to 26, and since his condition is heredity, they are monitoring their children closely for signs of the disease. Aaron looks forward to receiving a transplant that will allow him to feel better and restore his energy.

He enjoys spending time with his family, taking family vacations~ especially cruises, watching and playing basketball, being an active father in his children lives, serving as an Usher at New Providence Missionary Baptist Church, and working for the Town of Holly Springs—but his illness sometimes limits his activities now. Aaron wants nothing more than to be a healthy husband and father so he can avoid dialysis, continue to take part in the activities he enjoys, and have diminished swelling in his legs. But right now, he needs your help.

The average kidney transplant costs more than $414,000, and that’s only the beginning. Even with insurance, which will cover a portion of the transplant costs, he still faces significant expenses related to the surgery. For the rest of his life, he will need follow-up care and anti-rejection medications. Post-transplant medications are expensive, and they’re as critical to his survival as the transplant itself.

Check to see if you’re a match and donate a kidney to Aaron. Funds raised through this campaign can assist with living donor expenses as well. Contact Amy Woodard at 984-974-7568 for more information about becoming a donor for Aaron.
