Helping Hands Humane Society averages intaking more than 6,000 animals per year and we haven't seen a decline in several years. Summer months are hard. Between lost pets during summer events, vacations, and travels, combined with the sheer number of unwanted litters - we continue to take in animals! We are realizing we need to shift our community focus and not only provide adoptions and companion animals to our community, but support the people who love their pets and want to keep them home and get them back. HHHS believes that access to the human-animal bond is something that should be accessible, regardless of income status or any other factor!
We are using this opportunity to raise funds to offset costs for families in need to protect the human-animal bond for vulnerable humans and pets in our communities. Pets belong with the families who love them, not in a shelter, and we want to get them back to the people who love them the most.
HHHS needs to raise $6,000 to eligible for a potential grant from the Gannett Foundation and we know we can get there, with your help!
Funds from this campaign as well as the grant will allow our shelter more flexibility by bridging the gaps and covering costs for various intake prevention services, including but not limited to:
-Parvo treatments for pet guardians who can't afford it at a traditional vet - members of the public may be referred to us by their veterinarians
-Reduced-fee and waived-cost microchips for qualifying families who reclaim their pets
-Microchipping adoptable cats at HHHS to get them back to their owner if they stray from home
-Reduced-fee sterilization surgeries for qualifying families in our spay-neuter clinic, increasing access to veterinary care
-Adoption specials, allowing reduced fee adoptions and making the human-animal bond more accessible for people interested in obtaining a healthy furry family member
-Subsidizing return-to-owner fees for qualifying families whose pets are at the shelter
