On a day when so many incredible local causes are asking for your help, I want to share a deeply personal story about why Cedar Lake Lodge urgently needs yours.
Right now, Kentucky ranks last in the nation for long-term care services for individuals with disabilities. According to The Lane Report (LINK), we are 51st in affordability and access. We simply must do better for our fellow Kentuckians.
For my family, this isn’t just a statistic. My brother, Jeffrey, was born with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). When individuals with IDD age out of the school system, their options vanish. Jeffrey spent 20 long years on a waiting list before finally being welcomed into Cedar Lake Lodge. The wait was agonizing, but the compassionate care he receives today is extraordinary. The staff treats him—and every resident—like their own family.
Your donation today during Give for Good Louisville directly changes this landscape. Cedar Lake is taking bold steps to ensure no family has to wait two decades for care:
Expanding Capacity: Building a brand-new 18-bed facility [LINK] to immediately reduce wait times. (LINK).
Revitalizing Local Campuses: Transforming the newly purchased Bellwood and Brooklawn campus in Anchorage to serve more individuals.
Bringing Kentuckians Home: Providing local care so families no longer have to send their loved ones as far away as Kansas City just to get the support they need.
Please join me in supporting Cedar Lake Lodge today. Together, we can build a Kentucky where everyone has access to the care they deserve.
