Shine a light on desert schools!

COVID-19 cost many students across the Coachella Valley a year of learning and set back their development in countless ways. The pandemic also exposed the challenges many desert students face with technology and internet access. Students and parents struggled for resources. We need top-quality schools to produce educated and engaged students who will be the community leaders of tomorrow. 

Reporters covering education can help students and parents learn about resources that are available to them. Journalists can also help hold administrators, teachers and unions responsible for policies that accelerate or diminish student learning. Stories about the achievements of students and teachers can motivate and amplify success. 

None of our local media outlets has a reporter dedicated to covering educational topics in our valley. We aim to change this by raising funds that would underwrite reporting positions at local TV and radio stations and/or print publications.
