San Angelo Family Network

A nonprofit organization

San Angelo Family Network mission increases kinship caregivers' capacity to provide safe, stable, and nurturing homes for children. Kinship families, consisting of grandparents, relatives, and family friends, are opening their homes during this time of family trauma. SAFN addresses their immediate needs, working towards the positive permanency for the child, ensuring families receive support and increasing the quality of parenting that kinship caregivers provide.

A core part of our mission is to empower and support kinship families. Families are strongest when they can rely on each other and their natural support systems during difficult times. Even the most capable individuals need help sometimes-and there's no greater resource than family.

Kinship placements help reduce trauma, keep children connected to their community, and promote stability and well-being. However, kinship families are often unprepared for the list of required items. While DFPS may offer limited funds or supplies, it's not guaranteed and must go through a long state process. Plus, Texas gives kinship families far less financial support ($346/month per child) than licensed foster families ($812/month).

That's why we created San Angelo Family Network-to help cover those initial costs. We provide care packages with essential items and offer the option to request more based on each child's needs.

All services are free to anyone raising a relative's or close family friend's child in San Angelo and nearby areas.
