At the Erie Humane Society, every rescue begins with hope. For over 130 years, we’ve stood as a safe haven for the most vulnerable—the abandoned, the injured, the neglected animals with no voice and a dire need. As a local, independent, registered 501-c3 nonprofit, no-kill shelter, we give them more than shelter—we give them a chance to heal, to trust, and to begin again.

But we don’t do it alone. The Erie Humane Society has no affiliation with, nor are we a chapter of any national advocacy organizations and we receive no funding from them. We rely on the kindness and generosity of YOU, our community, to be a vital partner in the important work we do every day.

Every animal that walks through our doors begins a new chapter because someone like you chose to care. Your support provides lifesaving medical care, daily enrichment, warm beds, full bellies, and gentle hands that help them find their way forward. From moments of rescue to moments of joy in their forever homes, you are with them every step of the way.

OUR MISSION

RESCUE:  To provide temporary shelter, veterinary care, and rehabilitation services for needy, domesticated pets in our community.

REHABILITATE:  To provide emotional and physical rehabilitation services to help prepare pets for their next chapter in life.

REHOME:  To provide responsible adoption services through application, home visits, and offering additional training services & counseling.
