Green Up Vermont is a private nonprofit that promotes the stewardship of our state’s natural landscape and waterways and the livability of our communities by involving people in Green Up Day and raising public awareness about the health, economic, and visual benefits of a litter-free environment year-round.

Green Up Day, always the first Saturday in May, is a statewide litter clean up initiative where thousands of volunteers from over 250 Vermont communities clean roadsides and waterways for the betterment and beautification of our great state. It is a much-loved tradition and celebration of effort and pride of all citizens, public and private organizations, state and local governments, and businesses of all kinds. A clean environment is not only healthy and enjoyable, it increases business and provides a very special way of life that we need to encourage our youth to pursue.

Year-round Green Up Vermont provides educational resources and contests for grades K-12 and a $1,000 scholarship opportunity for those continuing their education. By encouraging youth to take pride in a clean environment, we are teaching them to not litter and nurturing their civic engagement to do good in their own communities and for the planet. These students will take this mindset into their futures and expand their impact on climate change.

We count on contributions to keep our mission growing. Please consider donating today!
