HELP US POWER A COMMUNITY RESILIENCY CENTER FOR $30,000!

Since 2002, Solar Austin has brought Austinites together around a shared belief: that solar energy is one of the most powerful tools we have to build healthier, more resilient, and more sustainable communities.

We are part of a global movement, acting locally. Here in Austin, we:

  • Install solar projects that provide resiliency, reliability, and financial relief to local nonprofits

  • Host community + industry events to connect people who care about clean energy

  • Educate youth and homeowners on the benefits and uses of solar

  • Create pathways into clean-energy careers for recent grads and professionals

2025 - 2026: A year of Community Resilience

This year, we are doubling down on building Community Resiliency Centers (CRCs) — solar + storage systems that ensure critical community services can stay powered during extreme weather and blackouts.

In 2025, we are installing CRCs for:

  • KOOP Radio
  • Keep Austin Fed (Vesper)
  • Bike Texas

The response has been overwhelming. Our partners—and our major funders—see the value of this work. That’s why our shared goal is to install 8 CRCs by 2027. These systems help ensure that:

  • As utility rates rise, nonprofits get real financial relief
  • During climate disasters and outages, neighbors can rely on safe, local sources of power
  • Thousands of Austinites gain access to resilience before the next crisis hits

There’s truly no better time to invest in resiliency than before disaster strikes.

And the momentum is real —
2025 marked the most local solar installations in Austin Energy territory ever recorded (18.8 MW)!

Your Support Makes This Possible

As a small nonprofit, every donation helps us build more resilient communities.
Your gift can keep our work going—or even directly fund a piece of solar equipment:

  • $10 – pair of safety glasses, gloves, or vests

  • $25 – one month of website maintenance

  • $50 – 1.5 hours of our Program Manager’s time

  • $100 – meals for solar installation crews

  • $200 – one solar panel installed on a nonprofit’s roof

  • $500 – 1 kW of solar installed for a nonprofit

  • $7,500 – a backup battery for a community resiliency center

  • $30,000 – a Community Resiliency Center

Help us power Austin’s resilience—one panel, one battery, one nonprofit at a time.
