The mission of Sojourners' Place is to help homeless adults become self-sufficient by counteracting the many and varied causes of their homelessness,  This is done systematically by offering substance abuse and mental health counseling, education, job skills, and employment training and other services.  It is our philosophy to provide a secure environment for as long as it takes for residents to receive the services they need to simply stop being homeless and become self-sufficient.  The average length is stay is between nine and twelve months.  Into the 30th year of operation, over the years, Sojourners' Place has graduated 2,276 women and men into the community with jobs and safe and affordable housing.

Upon admission to the program, residents are assigned a case manager who assesses their needs and draws up with them a contract for these services.  An important aspect of the contract is that we permit them to stay as Sojourners' Place until they have successfully addressed their needs and are actually ready to move into the community.  This is an important feature of the program, and unique in our state; because the needs of homeless individuals vary due to past experience, length of time needed to acquire the necessary training counseling and skills also differ.  Sojourners' Place realizes that success on this level takes time.  Success is measured in data collected as residents reach certain milestones.
