Saukville Community Food Pantry Inc

Help us raise $3000 so that we're eligible for a $100,000 grant from the Gannett Foundation!  Sounds like a great deal, right?  Why do we need the money?  We are OUT OF SPACE!!

The Saukville Community Food Pantry is working toward the launch of a Capital Campaign to purchase and renovate an existing building in Ozaukee County in order to adequately house and run our ever-growing number of programs. We have outgrown our current space and so seek to expand to a building that has more square footage, is more accessible, and is more functional for the work we do.  Our current location presents accessibility issues for our drivers in delivering the food we collect and for our patrons, coming in to use our services. We could do more with a loading dock and a ground-level entrance. We also lack storage and that problem has become acute with the Pantry’s growth. We are serving more families in more ways than ever before, but there’s much more to do. We recently added the “Back Pack Fridays” program at four local elementary/middle schools to send food home with kids for the weekend. We served around 175 families that way, and would love to expand that program to the other 14 elementary and middle schools in Ozaukee County. But we have no room to store supplies! We have loved becoming a redistributor for other, smaller pantries when we obtain more than we can use from our area grocers and generous community groups, and know we could do more here too if only we had more space.  (We distributed 10,997 lbs of food so far this year to seven area pantries, and two area shelters.) A new space will be able to accommodate more community events, allow us to do MORE, and improve our community.
