PBCIP seeks to actively promote its mission through a variety of strategies, including acquisition and rehabilitation of homes with resale to low, moderate and market rate families; increasing public safety; the revitalization of Haddon Avenue commercial district to promote employment and economic development; and partnering with various organizations to address amenities such as open space, education, job training, etc.

PBCIP's founding mission over 25 years ago focused on rehab of blighted housing as a way to address blight and crime creeping into the community while providing high quality, affordable housing to residents. Today, housing remains a flagship program of PBCIP, even while the organization has extended its reach to include commercial development and quality of life initiatives in order to redevelop the Parkside neighborhood of Camden in a holistic, sustainable way.

PBCIP has monthly community-wide meetings with themes each month to provide topical information to residents and feature information on sustainable practices that families and the community can incorporate into their daily lives. Community meeting guest speakers have included city officials, Camden school officials and state agencies discussing school construction and environmental safety at Parkside schools, and representatives from health and social service organizations bringing residents information about healthcare, child care and job opportunities.

Having completed over 200 housing units, PBCIP has developed 90 for-sale rehabbed homes, 149 units of newly constructed senior and multi-family rental housing in the Parkside and Whitman Park neighborhoods of Camden.

With the knowledge that housing alone will not address neighborhood problems, PBCIP is also developing the commercial district along Haddon Avenue. The ReFRESH Laundromat rehab project helped enhance the curbside appeal at a highly visible corner, provided a basic community service and helped create an environment conducive to further economic investment and development on Haddon Avenue.

Additionally PBCIP has acquired vacant dwellings along the corridor with the intent of establishing turn-key operations for local residents and restore the façade of existing storefronts to improve the street-facing exteriors of occupied commercial building.
