New Rochelle Public Library Foundation

The New Rochelle Public Library prides itself on being a Community Connector. It is the one institution in our extremely diverse city that serves and connects all segments of our community – from toddlers to the elderly, providing services and programs that celebrate the demographic and ethnic richness of our city. 

The Foundations's sole mission is to keep or Library vibrant, up-to-date and able to serve the diverse needs of the New Rochelle community.  We do that through fundraising and advocacy, and with the essential help of donors like YOU.

As we have become more dependent on the Internet to access resources, the digital divide has become more evident, separating the haves from the have nots. The Foundation is committed to closing this divide by supporting projects which strive to close this gap for the most vulnerable members in our community. As an example, the Foundation launched a Mobile Hotspot Campaign which funded the purchase of 40 WIFI hotspots which were immediately loaned to students-in-need in the New Rochelle School District so they could fully participate in remote learning.  

Most recently, the Foundation provided the matching funds for a NY State Construction Grant which has allowed us to renovate the entire Second Floor of the Library, the heart of our operations. This forward-looking project created individual study rooms, updated layout and furnishing for our Teen Room and Handelman Bussiness Opportunity Center. This grant also funded an expanded Spanish language collection and enhancements to our E.L. Doctorow Local History Room.
