For 20+ years AHA! has been producing FREE monthly events in downtown New Bedford. These 2nd Thursday arts and culture celebrations have provided artists, community organizers, educational institutions, museums, places of worship and small businesses a monthly platform to reach an engaged audience.
AHA! (in partnership with New Bedford Creative and the New Bedford Economic Development Council) is currently participating in A Community Thrives fundraising campaign to help support not only their monthly events but to support overall marketing of New Bedford with a goal of promoting a message that NB is open for business 7 days a week. Every dollar raised helps to unlock other funding opportunities - up to $2million in potential financial support.Reimagining Resilience: Arts + Culture = Economic Vitality is a collaboration of the NBEDC, New Bedford Creative, and AHA! (Art, History, & Architecture) to reimagine the role of arts & culture, makers & artists, entrepreneurs & creatives in bringing together a forum for the branding and economic vitality of the city. Our vision: "In New Bedford, the creative community is an engaged & powerful partner, inspiring social, economic, & cultural growth. In this authentic seaport city, each & every person enjoys an opportunity to experience a diversity of cultures. Art is everywhere, encouraging fun, provoking thought, & nurturing the soul."
Reimagining Resilience: Arts + Culture = Economic Vitality will use our existing framework of monthly virtual and in-person free cultural nights called AHA! (Art, History, & Architecture) to connect community members to the resilience of New Bedford. AHA! has a 20-year history of offering free programs to the community, mostly located downtown, and collaborates each month with over 60 artists, cultural institutions and small businesses.
