Mooresburg Community Association, established in 2001, to meet food insecurity needs of residents in this rural area in East Tennessee. Since that time, the range of services offered by MCA has grown to include:
Our community center is currently closed due to COVID-19. When we can reopen we will resume activities, to reduce social isolation and to encourage nutrition, fitness, and creative activity. The staff offers about 15 classes each month at the center. These include senior exercise, craft, and health awareness classes.
George Dean, a 92 year old veteran, says “that community center has been an inspiration to my soul. My boy and I watch for them every day, we know it is an assurance we aren’t going to go hungry.” Mr. Dean is only one of the people whose lives “remain intact” through the Meals in the Hills program. Without the MCA, the meals and other services would cease to exist. George Dean passed away in December of 2018, but we feel that he is still with us.
