Real change requires making fearless choices, brave decisions, and taking courageous action.  Your support today will result in us reaching 10,000 families with free at-home learning resources and critical connections to community services such as food, shelter and medical care.

At LitLab, our innovation targets making the greatest possible impact by altering the way children and families with the least power and resources in society experience struggle, and how they adapt to meet changing needs over time.  Over the past seven years, we have supported thousands of families in the Bay Area through our workshops and tablet programs, and created our mobile solution, kidappolis, to reach families all across the country.  Kidappolis provides:

  • A mobile platform: 90% of our families have smartphone/data plans; mobile phone learning is critical in any crisis
  • Empowered caregivers: parents struggle to teach; we provide skills/tools for adults to become their child's best teacher, in their home language
  • Safety nets: kidappolis resources stabilize families, so kids stay school ready

We ask for your financial support to do this important work, creating equity where it has been lacking for generations. At this unprecedented moment, please donate to help the low-income and emergent bilingual children and families most impacted by COVID-19. Consider the following:

Even before this crisis, we knew that education does not simply start and end in the classroom. And education, while a noble goal, does not exist in a vacuum; families need access to food, housing and other basic resources. That's why we created Kidappolis Communities. LitLab's program for providing high quality bilingual books, mobile learning resources, and parent support keeps families learning and children on track for long-term academic success.

Kidappolis Communities combines collective impact and innovative tools for family support across targeted area partner agencies. Families receive free LitLab books and kidappolis at their local food bank, medical center, shelter, and more. Agencies gain remote direct access to clients, sharing resources so adults learn of local services in a timely and safe manner, building increased utilization. By activating networks of providers, we create a tight safety net to support families in achieving stability. Partners engage with clients via LitLab tools, and their client base grows. Stable families gain increased bandwidth to help children grow in literacy, math, and social-emotional skill development. Entire communities benefit from improved family resilience.  Learn more about our Communities in Action in the Case Study tab.
