As the world re-emerges from the pandemic, the impact of a resource like kidSTREAM has become increasingly important. Children need the power of play.
All children need the power of play today, and every day. Help us keep the play growing by supporting our efforts to deliver learning experiences that engage young minds to explore, play, and discover.

Meeting the Needs of Yesterday
Since incorporating as a 501(c)3, six years ago, kidSTREAM has introduced an average of 10,000 children each year with hands-on STREAM-based learning. STREAM stands for Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math. We have created a dynamic preview room within a former library building with a large outdoor space - our future home. We need your help to bring this powerful resource to our community.
Meeting the Needs of Today
During the pandemic, kidSTREAM created and distributed hundreds of STEM-learning kits in both English and Spanish for children and families in populations of greatest need. As the world reopens, we have kept these impactful programs going, as well returning to in person, high impact hands-on learning opportunities. While we have met our community where we can, we know that the power and importance of a central, accessible learning resource is more needed than ever. Help us expand our space!
Meeting the Needs of Tomorrow
To increase our impact and reach, kidSTREAM has plans to expand our footprint, specifically by developing the larger building and outdoor space for hands on learning. The space will reflect our region's diverse geography, topography, and economy, with highlights, like an agricultural space for educational play to the Channel Islands and a neighboring Pygmy Mammoth Dig. Additional features include accessibility, through bilingual signage and access points and equally exciting play opportunities for children who cannot otherwise climb. One noteworthy development is a space reserved for an amphitheater, which will be a valuable resource for educational programming as well as a shared venue with our many community partners to utilize for increasing their audience and advancing their missions.
Every Child Needs Play
Prior to the pandemic, much of kidSTREAM's population served was through outreach, which was targeted in areas throughout Ventura County where access to hands-on learning would otherwise be inhibited. When events were held in our preview room at the future museum space, transportation was provided through sponsorship for children with socio-economic barriers. Additionally, kidSTREAM has a deep relationships with several youth serving organizations, who help us increase our impact with children who have the greatest needs for a resource like kidSTREAM.
Today's Challenges...
The impact of today's world is depriving all of our children from the many educational opportunities that the outdoor learning space at kidSTREAM will provide, from social and cooperative play through fort building, to the safe risk that can be found in climbing a rope bridge between tree house nests. Not only is this deficit due to the current pandemic, but the key learning development that takes place while a child is engaged in outdoor activities like these, has been on a steady decline due to limited unstructured play time and overuse of screens. Now more than ever, kidSTREAM is in a unique position to provide safe outdoor learning through play for all children.
