Resources & Support to Families with Epilepsy
JoshProvides Epilepsy Assistance Foundation, Inc. was founded by Sandi & Bruce Chapnick in 2008 after the passing of their son Joshua, who was diagnosed with epilepsy. The Chapnick's wanted to establish an organization that would provide information, resources and financial assistance to families, who like themselves, had a child diagnosed with epilepsy - this insidious neurological disease which will impact 1 in 26 people - and did not know where to turn for help.
Our Mission: To improve the quality of life for individuals living with epilepsy & other seizure disorders.
JoshProvides offers HELP & HOPE to children, families and individuals diagnosed with epilepsy or other seizure disorders as well as to parents, spouses and caregivers. Specifically, JoshProvides offers: Monthly Epilepsy Support Groups, Epilepsy Awareness & Community Education, assistance to secure a trained Seizure Response Dog, Seizure Alert & Detection Devices, and assistance with Transportation and Medical Services.
COVID-19 has significantly impacted all members of our community. Social isolation has always been an issue for people with epilepsy - because of their seizures. During COVID-19, our target population is even more isolated due to their health and anti-seizure medication which decreases their immune system. Several of our families have lost their jobs or been furloughed and some families have contracted the virus. This has put great strain on their financial situation.
This project, Resources & Support to Families with Epilepsy during COVID-19, will increase the available funds to directly benefit the children, families and individuals who turn to JoshProvides for help.
