At the YMCA, our mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy mind, body and spirit for all.  Our areas of focus are: for youth development, for healthy living and for social responsibility.  At the J. Smith Young YMCA we strive to provide access to the YMCA to everyone, those who are able to enter our building and those in our community who are not able to get to the Y.  We do this by taking our Y on Wheels and bringing meals, games, crafts and community resources, including the bookmobile, Lexington Police Department and others, into neighborhoods that aren't within walking distance of the YMCA.  This summer, we are also beginning a new program, Splash & Snacks, to provide swim lessons, meals, games and playtime at the Y for all children in our community who are experiencing homelessness.  

In addition to these outreach programs, we also provide year round childcare for children and families, and we provide scholarships for families who need some help to make safe and reliable childcare affordable.  We offer fitness classes, swim lessons, youth sports, camps, and many other programs for our community at the YMCA.  We also provide an indoor pool, exercise equipment, gym and racquetball court to all our members and their guests.  It is our mission to be sure that everyone in our community has an opportunity to experience the YMCA.
