Founded in May 2015, Gullotta House Inc is an award-winning non-profit. Our mission is helping Westchester residents facing immediate hardships. Income is not a factor; hardship is the driving force behind the help and support Gullotta House can offer.
Together, with your generosity, support, and dedication we are ready to help more Westchester County residents including children, seniors, veterans, the homeless, families facing hardships and our neighbors who had unexpected setbacks. We are helping our community's Fire victims, those experiencing loss of life, medical expenses, or situations which left our neighbors with no money for heating oil, car repairs or food emergencies.
Gullotta house was there to assist with numerous free oil deliveries, new tires and brakes for those in need. Most recently with expenses for the car of a mom who is a widow through a tragic accident and is the sole supporter of her family. We are helping our community residents in need of medical equipment and devices. We are working with community members in the planning and installation of handicapped ramps to get homes more functional!
Since the beginning of the COVID pandemic we have served and delivered over 150,000 free meals.
Too many in our community experienced:
A rise in unemployment
An inability to apply for social assistance
Seniors and veterans who could not leave their homes
COVID infected families where the children were taking care of the adults.
We at Gullotta House are all volunteers. All our volunteers are HEROS for helping to serve or deliver the meals to the many hungry families in the communities most impacted. To date, Gullotta House has provided meals weekly since March 2020!
Our call to action and the funds raised in this challenge will go immediately back into the communities we serve - helping those most in need. We continue to expand our Free Hot Community Dinner programs and will feed more community members for as long as there is a demand. We assist our neighbors who are less fortunate with the necessities of life and offer a helping hand to ALL IN NEED.
We start every year with our “Escape from Sing Sing Plunge”. In frigid temperatures our volunteers and supporters brave the freezing Hudson River to raise money to fund our programs. We have watched our Sing Sing Plunge grow year after year: in 2021, we raised over $31,000 - double our previous high-water mark. We are deeply thankful to all who pledge and plunge.
Each summer we hold our Charity Duck Race. With the assistance of the Ossining Fire Department and many community volunteers we flood a local stream so our rubber duckies can “race “ across the finish line. This year we are happy to hold our Duck Race in person after hosting a virtual event last year. This campaign provided additional funding to help support our COVID Meals Program.
Every year for Thanksgiving, we give away hundreds of free turkeys and host a Thanksgiving meal for hundreds of people that would have otherwise been alone. Due to COVID restrictions in 2020, we did not host a live Thanksgiving dinner. We were able to deliver over 5,000 free Thanksgiving meals directly to those who would not have had a Thanksgiving without our assistance. This year we are planning to continue these efforts and host a Thanksgiving dinner as have in years past!
Community, connection, caring - Gullotta House strives for all of those...and more!
