Cultivate CDC

A nonprofit organization

We exist to be a collaborative community resource in Milo-Grogan by joyfully partnering with residents and stakeholders to know neighbors, foster local leadership, and ensure a vibrant neighborhood for all.

What We Do

1. Know Neighbors

  1. Neighborhood Newsletter: We create and distribute a monthly Neighborhood Newsletter, in partnership with the Milo-Grogan Civic Association, for all Milo-Grogan neighbors. We hand out these newsletters door-to-door each month.
  • Civic Engagement Events & Activities: We love supporting neighbors and their creative ways to gather residents together. Examples include Cat Mailloux’s Sewing Classes, National Night Out, the Milo Fest, Milo-Grogan Green Space events, and more.

2. Foster Local Leadership

  • Rooted House, an innovative year-long internship and leadership development program for young adults
  • Build Up the Milo-Grogan Civic Association:
    • Partnering to apply for and implement Back to Strong & Ready to Grow grant programming.
    • Engage and organize neighborhood participation & Civic committees.
  • Milo Leadership Group (MLG): an eight-week leadership development program, creatively based on the United Way’s Neighborhood Leadership Academies. The MLG is designed to equip residents with the knowledge and tools to become greater agents of change.

3. Ensure a Vibrant Neighborhood for All

  • Milo-Grogan Green Space: We partnered with the Milo-Grogan Civic Association to create this neighborhood park, located on the corner of Starr Ave and Cleveland Ave. We have weekly work days, from Spring-Fall, to take care of this beautiful Green Space with vegetables, flowers, herbs, benches, picnic tables, a mural, and more. All neighbors are welcome to enjoy this park!
  • COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Fund: This fund was specifically created to address emergency needs that arise for families and senior citizens in the neighborhood as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • 365 Produce, an Urban Farm: a year-round hydroponic indoor farm in Milo-Grogan that’s committed to growing and sharing healthy foods that build community, grow hope, and fight food insecurity,
