Help CEUS raise $5,000 to protect immigrants
$1,130 Raised
Centro Comunitario CEUS (Comite En Union Para Salvadorenos) is a nonprofit founded by and for Hispanic immigrants in northern New Jersey. CEUS offers low-cost and free immigration legal services, education on workplace rights and health, English classes, food assistance, a women's empowerment group, and community organizing to help immigrants become full participants in their new community.
Our work prevents deportations and keeps families safe together.
CEUS helped Laurent T. (left) obtain political asylum after she was threatened (and her partner detained and tortured) for speaking up for human rights in Venezuela. When she got asylum after 2 years of work by CEUS's staff attorney, Laurent wept with joy "because my son will have the chance to live in freedom and peace." At a time when freedom and peace seem so fragile around the world, you can help the struggle by supporting CEUS.
CEUS helped Sofia Ramirez (left) attain citizenship, three decades after she fled El Salvador's civil war. “CEUS truly helps people, especially those who don’t have many resources,” she says.
CEUS is one of the few nonprofits in New Jersey offering affordable immigration legal services. Immigrants who have a lawyer's help are much more likely to win their cases. When immigrants gain legal status, they are able to obtain jobs, start businesses and support their families.
Immigrants are an essential - but often marginalized - part of our community. Thank you for helping us help them!
