The Clothes Closet shall strive to provide FREE clothing, and to be a place of restoring hope, worthiness, respect and dignity by utilizing existing relationships and accessing other community resources to further help individuals and families obtain needed services.

The Clothes Closet was started in 2010 and made into a nonprofit in 2014.  We had a very small budget with all volunteers,  in and out of buildings helping people until March 2021 when someone saw our need and bought us our forever home.  We were also blessed by all the contractors and community who donated their time and most of the materials to make the building up to code.

The Clothes Closet is not about just giving clothes out.  We do a lot, our mission statement says it all.  We help and average of 200 - 250 of individuals / families per month

The main thing is talking to people who come our doors, and see where they are at physically, mentally and emotionally, so we can direct and help them to the proper resources that are out there in our community.  We have an ear to listen, and let them know there is HOPE out there.

At the Clothes Closet we help men, women and Children that may be struggling working 2 jobs, single parent to a person experiencing homelessness.  We also work with the Domestic Violence shelter, foster care, schools, churches, and other resources.

The Clothes Closet has washers and dryers for people living in their cars, motels or tents to come and wash 2 loads a week.  We want to offer a hand up, so people can come in and do their laundry and limit the amount of new clothes they need.  And in turn, it doesn't litter our desert.

We are not a food bank,  but we do provide to our people experiencing homelessness a gallon size bag full of snack foods that usually consist of 2 pull top soups, fruits and snack bars . We do have a small pantry of uncooked food for families that may come in that need food.  We will provide 2 uncooked meals for them and refer them to our local food bank.

Our center houses other resources that come in once a week to help with insurance, food stamps, electric counseling, Rehabs, Rehab housing, job training, schooling, free haircuts and even help if you have cancer.  We are a place with a hand up, trying help people before they spiral down into a homeless situation.

Lake Havasu City currently does not have anywhere to take showers for people experiencing homelessness (except a church on Friday morning 9am-11am only) We are currently building 2 handicap showers and 2 more resource rooms.  We feel by adding showers to our community they may feel better about joining the workforce.

Our future plans are to build an attached two story building to have more resource rooms, a front intake entrance and storage for items we recieve to give away.  We have outgrown our building. We are so blessed to have our community and all the resources that want to work together to help individuals and families that are experiencing hardships.
