ABOUT CMA

Since 1925 CMA has presented great performances and memorable music education programs featuring national and international touring artists.  Classical musicians CMA has presented include Sergei Rachmaninoff, Artur Rubenstein, Beverly Sills, Izthak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma and the Emerson String Quartet. In 1982, CMA added jazz to its season and among the artists to perform are Wynton, Delfeayo, Ellis and Branford Marsalis, Arturo Sandoval, Chick Corea, Kurt Elling, Esperanza Spalding, and David Sanborn.

CMA Studio music education programs featuring our renowned guest artists benefit hundreds of young people in Des Moines area schools every year. The goal of these programs, which are offered at no cost, is to supplement and enhance school-based arts instruction.

WHAT YOUR  GIFT WILL MAKE POSSIBLE

To engage, enrich and educate the central Iowa community through provocative, world-class musical performances by legends and rising stars.— The CMA Mission

Each year, we continue to present world-renowned artists to central Iowa. Nearly all of these artists have delivered engaging programs at no cost to students in area schools, helping them achieve their goals.Every summer, CMA presents a free summer concert series featuring the Belin String Quartet. That same quartet regularly provides music education events in area schools during the school year.

Your gift to CMA through A Community  Thrives will support the development of these programs.

In addition, you will help us meet our $6,000 fundraising goal and qualify for a local operating grant from Gannett Foundation and the Des Moines Register.
