Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert

Mission

For three decades, The Children's Discovery Museum of the Desert has been a valued community resource where children and families can experience the joy of learning about themselves and the world around them. The Museum inspires lifelong curiosity by nurturing creativity, imagination, and hands-on exploration through interactive exhibits and programs.

Since 2024, we've welcomed over 8,500 children and families to a welcoming, inclusive space for children and families of all backgrounds. Our main gallery creates an entirely new, whimsical, creative environment designed specifically for children ages 0–8. The redesigned space features over 40 brand-new exhibits that encourage children to imagine, express, experiment, move, explore, and dream.

In addition, we are expanding our programming with free family science nights, Master Gardeners in our garden for gardening and exploration, open art, a cozy corner Little Bug Club, and our Zen Lawn for yoga, to become the first Autism-Certified Venue in the Coachella Valley. This certification includes staff-wide training, sensory guides for exhibits, and dedicated Low Sensory and Calm Spaces for visitors who benefit from reduced stimulation.
