Blessings in a Backpack Waukesha County Chapter

Most of us can’t wait for the weekend to arrive, but for an estimated 15,000 children in Waukesha County, weekends can be truly agonizing. We’re talking about children suffering from food insecurity – children who are unsure of where their next meal will come from. This often means that they do not have enough to eat from the time school ends on Friday afternoon until it begins again on Monday morning.

This is where Blessings in a Backpack of Waukesha County steps in. We bridge the food gap by providing food on the weekends for children in need. During the 2021-2022 school year, our volunteers fed 3,600 school-aged children in 35 schools in the Waukesha, Sussex, Oconomowoc, Hartland-Lakeside, and Kettle Moraine school districts.
