Who we serve

431 Ministries’ services focus primarily on single-mother households. Single motherhood comes as a result of a variety of crises including unexpected pregnancies, emotional, physical or financial abuse and sudden deaths or divorces of spouses. These crises can lead to issues of poverty, homelessness, isolation, and addictions, all causing trauma for mothers and their children. According to the 2019 census data, in Maury and Davidson county, 31% and 38% respectively of all households in each county are single-parent dwellings. This is a large percentage of families that have few services directed towards them.

  • 86% of the families served in 2021 were below poverty level

  • 63% of families served between 2018-2021 were second generation single mothers

  • 23% of clients served in 2021 were BIPOC

  • 91% of clients served between 2018-2021 experienced sexual trauma

  • 58% of clients served between 2018-2021 experienced the loss of a spouse through death or divorce

How we serve

431 Ministries offers three main programs that provide safety and stability to vulnerable women: Side-by-Side, Known Seen Loved, and Hope in Healing. The women we serve experience three main issues that we seek to solve — isolation when walking out of a crisis, general hopelessness, and a lack of support back to crisis situations. The Side-by-Side program is a wrap-around program that works with each woman to create a personalized plan. The end goal is a future where she is safe, stable, and independent. 431 Ministries equips her with tools and resources to confidently pursue her goals and graduate feeling empowered to live out that plan after the program ends.

Known Seen Loved Events are focused learning and community opportunities that we offer throughout the year. These include skills classes — such as food budgeting and prep, easy nutrition/work out options, Bible Studies — holiday gatherings with special speakers and activities — Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas — and professional growth events — Job Fair and Career Advancement. All our events are focused on empowering women to learn and grow while making connections with other ladies in similar situations.

The Hope in Healing Retreat is for women who have lost a husband to death or divorce and are still in an active state of grief. It is an application-based opportunity, completely free for attendees. With a combination of professionals and those who are further along on their grief journey, attendees are equipped with space to grieve and tools to keep going once they return to their everyday lives. It is rounded out with a Practical Advisor series, allowing ladies to connect with trusted professionals in a variety of areas including health, home, money and more.
