More Than a Uterus

Tandem’s mission is to improve perinatal outcomes by trusting patients, increasing options for care and challenging the status quo. We know that in order to achieve this mission, we have to see our clients as their whole selves, not just as their uteruses.  In the words of our midwife, Enabah Seda, CNM, “I cannot be the provider I want to be until you can show up truly as yourself.”  By being holistic in our care and understanding of our clients, we can provide BETTER medical care.  

At all times in life, but in particular in pregnancy and postpartum care, we must understand the physical, emotional and spiritual wants and needs of our clients, as well as the values, beliefs, relationships, and cultural  experiences and expectations that they bring to the table.

All of these must be taken into account as we work together to establish the best plan of care.  Healthcare doesn’t have to be hierarchical.  Medical providers offer expertise and SO DO YOU.

Tandem is in the final stages of opening our midwifery-led gynecology clinic. We will serve clients from puberty to menopause for well-person care.  At the same time, our community space will open. This space will host perinatal classes and support groups as well as have open community time.

Once the clinic and community space open, we will focus our construction efforts on the birth center on our lower floor. The birth center will house two birthing suites complete with birth tubs that can be used for laboring in and/or delivery if the client chooses.

We cannot bring this facility and these services to our community without your help.
