Hope Through Restoration

Hope Through Restoration offers life transformational restoration and healing of individuals, families, neighborhoods, and communities. 

In urban communities, young men are often faced with many different challenges; i.e., stresses at home, peer pressure/negative role models, substance use, drugs, and unhealthy relationships. Hope Through Restoration (HTR) offers opportunities for personal development, life transformation, encouragement, and direction based on biblical principles to youth who are transitioning to adulthood. 

Our program offers the opportunity for youth to come into a healthy, dignified, supportive, clean and safe environment, where they can receive support, mentoring, training, counseling, and group education therapy while engaging in positive activities and building healthy relationships. 

This program creates a transformational option for young adults to develop, learn, hear, and be mentored by lived experience individuals who have come from similar backgrounds and overcome their negative situations to make a positive impact on their families, neighborhoods & community. 

According to a report from the National Alliance to End Homelessness (2020), on any single night in 2020 over 34,000 unaccompanied youth and young adults were counted as homeless. Of those, 90 percent were between the ages of 18-24 years old, and 50 percent of the homeless youth and young adults were unsheltered (i.e. sleeping in a car, sleeping outside, or a place not meant for habitation).

As a result, there is a growing unmet need in Milwaukee County for additional housing options for young adults who are facing significant life challenges and needs, including; coming from or aging out of foster care (out of home placement), and/or incarceration, dealing with peer pressures, strained family relationships and situations, substance use, health and mental health needs, and are in need of access to housing, education, employment and a fresh start in an encouraging environment. As youth transition to adulthood from these challenging living situations and returning to the community, they are often on their own and unprepared for living independently.

HTR provides a safe place for focused programing from lived experience individuals that will connect individually with participants and inspire them throughout the week, while encouraging them and preparing them to live independently, positively and successfully.

In expanding our program, we are seeking to restore a dilapidated building in Milwaukee, that will serve as the expanded home of restoring the lives of our urban youth, which in turn, will restore the neighborhood, their families and the entire surrounding community.
